The Thief's Trade

Statement

The famous art thief Myles Connor was the first to inspire The Thief's Trade. The protagonist holds a small alligator in his hand, referencing an old photo of MJ Connor from his youth. He also wears jewelry and clothing that does not belong to him, thus elevating his social status and indulging in a self-fulfilling fantasy. In contrast to all this opulence, he is wrapped in a fishing net, symbolizing deceit, a web of lies and the act of hunting. This element also reveals the humble origins of the young man who manages to exalt himself by hiding his nature in a "Gatsby-esque" way. The collar and brooch are from Balenciaga's 2006 s/s collection and the earrings and model are from Palomo Spain.
